Should You Pay Your Writers $6 Per 500 Words

Everyone who outsources writing assignments tries to get the best articles for their money at the lowest possible cost. It stands to reason, however, that good writers should receive more money than mediocre writers. People who hire low-cost writers often find that the money they paid out was actually very expensive, as the articles they receive are rife with grammatical errors, spelling errors or worse yet, cannot be readily understood. When that happens, readers pass on the articles, usually in disgust, and the person who hired the writer just can’t understand why this happened.
This begs the question “is it wise to pay someone $1.50 for 500 words when that money plainly went into the trash can? What about $3.00 for 500 words? Again and again, those writers submit abominable trash, making one wonder if these buyers should perhaps be told to stop wasting their money on hacks! Good writers just won’t work for peanuts!
Many good writers are “beat out” in writer’s bidding wars because they believe that they are worth more money due to their education, background, and writing expertise. Many decent writers have, out of necessity, prostituted themselves for low pay, and the buyers are extremely pleased with the results. However, this leads to writer burn-out and the buyers invariably lose their favorite writers to higher paying clients.
One would think that the buyers would consider offering $6.00 per 500 words initially and not wait until they have “trained” a writer to write the way that they find pleasing, as well as to turn out error free products.
In addition, it always amazes buyers to find out that many lower paid hacks plagiarize other people’s material. This is why plagiarism checkers were born, although it is mystifying how one can simply create an article using just their own words and not end up with some degree of plagiarism? After all, almost everything you can think to write has been written somewhere by someone that came before you.
I do not mean to denigrate all writers who are writing for lower prices. It is my understanding, for example, that there are some excellent writers in Pakistan who write well and are dependable. But, as in all countries, they are exceedingly difficult to find.
Great writers struggle with words, but also have the willingness to accept that what they wrote may not be their best. The proverbial trashcan filled to the brim with wadded up paper is often what their fingers are creating when they discard one paragraph after another while striving to create something that will please the person who hired them.
Surely all that painful angst is worth something? A good writer can express ideas succinctly and get the point across without having to use vocabulary that only someone with a Masters degree will understand. Simplicity is an accomplishment few writers can master. Would you pay $6.00 per 500 words to a writer who can do this for you? Chances are that your response is a loud, “you bet’cha!”
