Article Writing – The 3 Mistakes I Made In Article Writing

Introduction
I have been article writing and marketing since November 2008. But I really did not catch on to it till October 2010. I guess you can say I am a slow learner. After kick starting my article writing and marketing efforts, I sat down and critiqued what I was doing wrong.
Here are three major things I found I was doing wrong. Hopefully, if you are launching an effort in article writing and marketing, you can learn from my mistakes.
Wrong Affiliate
You should pick your affiliate programs carefully. Talk to other people about which affiliate programs are reliable and those programs that will assist you in marketing their products. For example, some affiliate programs will provide you with banners for their products and even free e books about their products, which you can give away.
Plus pick an affiliate program that pays well. Some programs pay only 4% of total sales. Yet others pay 50% or more of the total sale.
Too Many Products
When I started out I did not select just one product, I wanted to do them all. So I picked lots of products and wrote an article about each product. Guess how many sells I made? Not many!
If you are going to do article writing and marketing do not do what I did. Instead, pick one product and focus on marketing this one item. When I started marketing this way, my sales picked up dramatically.
Poor Number Of Articles
As I mentioned earlier, I had a whole range of products that I was promoting. This limited the time I could spend on each product, so the number of articles I wrote for each product was very small. Some articles received one article and some receive two or three.
This is just not enough to generate sales on a consistent bases. So when you pick the product you want to promote, write as many articles as you can on that one product. You may think it is impossible to write a lot of articles on one product, but you will be surprised at the number of truly unique articles you can write on one product.

If you are going into or are already in article writing and marketing, learn from my mistakes. Pick the right affiliate program that is both reliable, provides tools to promote their product and pays well. Pick one product and promote it. Once you have your product and your affiliate, write as many articles as you can on that single product and get them posted on the web.
