Pros And Cons Of Hiring A New Content Writer

The rules of the game have certainly changed in the past few years. These days, a company has to have a strong online presence to succeed. This is why, terms like SEO, blogging, content writing or podcasts, are often heard and used and for good reason as they are some of the best ways for a business to reach their target market, because more and more consumers are searching for products and other information online.
Since, consumers are now more conscious on getting the right information before making a purchase, it has become imperative for businesses to get their sites on the first page of search engines, like Google, Yahoo and MSN. However, good and effective website content does not come cheap, so, in order to lower their budget, some businesses forgo professional writers in favor of new content writers. This is not a bad idea. After all, there are some good writers out there who just need the right break but before hiring a new writer, one should be aware of the pros and cons of this idea.
Advantages of Hiring a New Writer
* Lower Rate – This is one advantage a new writer has over professional and established ones and obviously, this is one aspect that most businesses would take advantage of.
* More Time to Write – Someone, who is new to content writing, will probably have more free time, because he or she does not have regular clients yet. This usually means that you can expect a faster turnaround time on your requirement. Plus, you can even ask for extras, like adding hyper links or submitting the article to a particular directory.
Disadvantages of Hiring New Writers
* Lack of Knowledge and Experience – A new writer might have a good idea of what content writing or marketing is, but there is a lot more to it, than just writing an article. New writers might initially struggle with concepts, like how to connect to the market, how to write catchy content and other strategies. These can only be learned through time and trial and error that professional content writers have already experienced.
* Lower Rate – You did not read it wrong. This can also be one disadvantage with writers new to the business. Good quality often means paying good money. So, if in the interest of saving money, you decided to hire a new writer who is a non-native speaker, then make sure you have enough time to proofread and edit their work, since it is almost a given that the quality of their work might not be up to your standards.
* Lack of Research Strategy – While some writers might actually have an affinity for research, most new content writers do not know what sources they can utilize to develop good content. Many writers who are starting out in content writing would often resort to just rewriting old articles or using spinning software.
When it comes down to it, the output will speak for itself. It does not matter, whether the content writer is a beginner or has been in the business for years, what companies should still look for is the quality of the final content and whether it is effective in capturing the interest of the target market.
