To all dog owners, a pet is more than just a friend, it is a family member who will always make you smile, every time you are down and lighten up the mood in your home. We all love our pets but at times they can frustrate us, especially when they urinate/defecate on the carpet and not on their designated relieving area. Normally this happens because they haven’t been properly trained. Training them not to pee on the carpet can be very maddening and tiring, but with pet wee pad, you will have your pet peeing in its designated spot in no time. This pad is a huge absorbent pad which comes with a unique waterproof protective side and corners. In fact, this product can make housebreaking your pet easier and it might save your lovely rug from pee stains and odor.
Invented by Allen Simons in the 1970s, this pad was designed to attract your pet every time it wants to pee or do its business. Previously, dog owners used old papers to housebreak their pets or show them where they should pee/defecate while in the house, which was actually too much work. After noticing how easily pee soaked through the newspaper, Allen Simons was determined to make his very own pad which had a plastic lining that helped protect his floor and now this pad becomes a world-known product. In fact, the wee wee pad has been the best-selling house-breaking pad on Planet Earth the Globe for more than 3 decades now. This merchandise is a perfect solution to various potty issues including house breaking puppies, high rise apartments, leaving the pet inside the house during the day.

Training puppies on a pet wee pad
1. Choose a designated spot for the training pad
Begin by placing your wee pad in a strategic place within your home, a spot where the pet can simply access without your assistance. Since changing the designated spot will confuse your puppy, just make sure you are consistent with the area you placed the mat or pad. This will actually help you enforce the idea of where exactly in the house the pet should defecate or pee. Plus since the puppy will want to relieve itself immediately after sleeping, drinking, eating or playing, ensurethe spot you choose for the pad is easily visible and accessible for both you and your puppy.Putting it in a visible spot will make everything easier for your puppy.
2. Be attentive to your pet’s behavior
Every puppy has a pee dance which happens or occurs only when it wants to pee, it can either start pacing, cycling or even sniffing, so make sure you get acquainted with your puppy’s pee dance. Once you notice this particular pee dance, you can verbally let the puppy know that peeing/defecating on the carpet is inappropriate by using various words like “no” or any other tonal message that will let him know that it’s a bad idea. You can then carry the puppy & place it on the training pad, with time the puppy will get used to this spot. Don’t ever yell at the puppy while training it, as this only create bad experience for your pet, remember we want it trained and not stressed or scared of us.
3. Praise the puppy every time it uses the pad correctly
Always pat the puppy on its head or use any sign of quick physical affection every time your pet relieves itself on the pad. If your puppy tries to do the pee dance far from the pad, make sure you pick it up and return it on the pad again and again until it defecates or pees on the training wee pad. You can also give the puppy a small treat each time it uses the pad right, but make sure you maintain the portions of the treat small. If the treat is big, your pet will not only have to use the pad again, it will get used to larger treats. You will end up spending more just to condition your pet to the pad and any other training you might want to it to learn in the future.
4. Train the puppy to defecate/pee outside
Once the puppy gets used to the pad and can relieve itself every time it wants to pee without your assistant, you can start moving the wee pad gradually from the specified spot to the door and eventually outside. Since you are actually showing it the direction to the door and outside, make sure you do it slowly and reinforce this behavior. Actually the amount of time it takes for the puppy to associate peeing with the pad and then get the direction to the doorway and finally outside varies with the puppy’s intelligence and personality. Some will learn this faster while other will take a very long time to master this behavior. But eventually the little puppy will start marching in the door’s direction towards the pet wee pad without your assistance.
Learning takes time, so you will have to be very patient with your puppy throughout the learning process. As much as the wee pad is 100% leak-proof, mistakes can happen. Therefore once your puppy is properly trained, you can use a stain and odor remover to get rid of all the tough stain and odor from all the training accidents and once again have your home clean and void urine-like smell.
