Some dads prefer very useful practical gifts but there are plenty of dads out there who are big softies too and really cherish mementos, silver items and engraved goodies. This is an article for those fathers who would love Father’s Day gifts that carry meaningful messages. Engraved gifts are not something you’d usually associate with Father’s Day but they can make superb Father’s Day gifts so don’t discount them until you’ve examined everything they’ve got to offer.

Engraved gifts make sense when you consider that one of your priorities when Father’s Day arrives should be getting something which tells your dad unequivocally how much you care. With an engraved gift you can provide your dad with something personal, something unique and elegant with a thoughtful quote, message or just his name. You can even add his nickname if he has one and make it even more special! Engraved gifts are so good because they can be cherished forever and they can be put on display to show visitors because they’re usually really attractive. Highly polished silver, silver plated metal or steel are usually the materials used and they’re polished to a high gloss after they have been carefully engraved. There are some engraved gifts which are more ‘useful’ or ‘practical’ than others though. Some men would be happy to receive a metal star decoration engraved with a message from their son or daughter but this is the sort of gift which belongs on a shelf or desk. As most men prefer ‘useful’ gifts, it’s the more practical engraved gifts that we will try to focus on in this article.

Useful Personalised Prezzies

Good Father’s Day gifts will get plenty of use so if you have a dad who likes to dress formally or wears a lot of business attire some engraved cufflinks could be a really brilliant present. They hark back to an age of monogrammed luggage and sophisticated gentlemen. You can add your father’s initials to them and whenever he puts them on, he’ll remember how much his child (or children!) love him.

Men who often go on lots of business trips could find themselves carrying around a lot of the local currency in cold hard cash and for them a ‘money clip’ is invaluable because it will keep their Yen, Dollars or Euros organised. This is another one of those traditional items which makes you think of international travel, luxury and good taste. You can also get money clips which are silver plated personalised with up to 3 initials too, so along with cufflinks they make great Father’s Day gifts.

Finally, our favourite of the entire range of engraved Father’s Day gifts has to be a traditional engraved tankard. Manly, classical and timeless, tankards these days are usually made from stainless steel instead of pewter (which is poisonous) so you can really use the tankard to drink a favourite beer on special occasions! Or you can still use it as a decorative item. You can also store things in it or even place a plant pot inside it which can look quite rustic and charming. On top of all that whatever message you like can be engraved on to the metal and that means you can make it really unique and personal.

Just spend a few minutes considering what kind of message, quote or thoughts you could engrave on to a tankard for your father and you’ll probably have a few ideas instantly. You could choose a joke you share or a certain thing he always says which makes you laugh.

More than Gifts

Spending time with your dad on Father’s Day can be much more important than any Father’s Day gifts so keep that in mind and also remember that if you do choose an engraved present, the message in many ways can be more important than the object itself. If you’re not feeling very wealthy (and who is in the current economic climate!) engraved presents can make really good, affordable token gifts which you can supplement by cooking your dad a meal, taking him to the park or beach or even visiting a free entry museum or art gallery.

There are loads of great ways to spend the day with your dad and make him feel like the luckiest father in the world. Find out what is going on in your local area and see if there are any fun activities you can take part in together!
