CPA marketing is not a passive form of income; you make money only when people perform a certain action such as signing up for a free offer or submitting their e-mail address. So it is up to you, the CPA marketer, to make them want to avail of the merchant’s offer. How do you do that? The most time-tested way is through copy that will not only pique the lead’s interest but also influence them to perform the action the merchant wants, whether it be submitting their e-mail address or clicking on a link to find out about a special offer. This can be challenging, but with a little practice, you can become an effective copy writer.
The first step in writing successful copy is to understand the merchant-partner’s product. What does it do and how can it meet a need? Let’s say for example that the merchant is offering a stomach flattening device called Hard Abs. How does it work and what need does it fulfill? By fulfilling a need I don’t mean the obvious, but rather the deeper psychological need, i.e. a flatter stomach increases self-confidence and self-esteem and leads to more success socially with women.
Once you understand the product and the need it meets, you can write the copy. This copy will usually appear on the landing page of your affiliate site, where the user will sign up for the offer. If you want to earn the payout, then you have to get more people to sign up for the offer, and so you have to write the copy in such a way that it will influence them to do so.
So you can begin by stressing the social humiliation that having a beer belly creates, the fat jokes and the rejections from women they’re interested in. Once you’ve established that, then you can describe how Hard Abs will benefit big-bellied men, not just by flattening their stomachs, but also making them more attractive to women, making them more socially confident and the like.
Then you can describe the offer. In this case, let’s say it’s not a free offer but a special 60-day trial period with a risk-free money back guarantee. Stress the free trial in order to catch the interest of potential leads and make them act. Use active words that create a sense of urgency, such as ‘act now!’ or ‘try the product today!’ Use the copy to reinforce the idea in potential leads that the action you want them to take is quick and easy (click here, for example)
