After two years of writing and over 4 million words, 11,500 online articles and 10 eBooks, I still do not think of myself as a very good writer or article author. People often tell me I am a good writer and I just think to myself: I am not sure why everyone keeps telling me this?
Not everyone is cut out to be a writer, but if you decide you want to do it, well then you have to get practice somehow? Remember I am not a writer. So, I needed to become one. It was a skill I needed. You see, I noticed in business that I would hire PR people and they would write one or two articles for a given trade journal or some advertising copy.
Generally they worked a little too slow for our break-neck speed, charged more than we had budgeted and slanted things often incorrectly for our exact target niche. It was of grave concern in little towns for our franchisees in smaller regions. Sending the wrong message can kill a business. As a founder of a franchise, I could not take these types of risks with the future of our franchise outlets.
Writing in business became a necessity for me and now in retirement, I have so many ideas and concepts – two original thoughts per day is my goal. I always get at least two. To do this I must scour lots of materials, I am even finding myself running out of subjects to read about and unfortunately running out of subjects to write about also. That is scary, what will I do then? I am only 42 now, so I fear this problem.
For all my ideas and concepts to get them out I would need 10 full time writers, editors and etc., but if I can do the work of 10 people, which I can. Then I can do it without worrying about it. Indeed this is has been part of the hallmark of my success in becoming the number one most prolific online article writer in the history of the Internet.
Most editors cannot edit me, because they do not understand the subject matter when I get into the heavier stuff, worse they cannot keep up with my content production. With (2) new original thoughts per day is 730 new completed articles per year and the real problem is that once I start to write an article, I think of applications, off-shoots and additional sub-concepts.
Then you see the problem? I can’t get the information out fast enough and I do not have the time to go find an editor or such for each idea, otherwise I back up my system of thinking production. That is really bad. Then I get cluttered.
Some folks have told me that I have wasted my time writing online articles, but I did not waste my time, it was a practice, study in human psychology, on the Internet, it was worth the time. Think of all the content I have in rough draft form?
The 100 books I plan to write, well actually only 90 now, are really all done, except for flushing them out and editing, illustrations, etc. I can write 16,800 words per day, unlimited in thinking, total production. Can you imagine, what I have available? It kind of reminds me of the days in the car wash industry (where I retired from). We always had so much opportunity, everywhere.
With 100 books, even if they are eBooks then that puts me into the top echelon of writer production. It is only a matter of refinement of skill, editing team and the rest is history. Now imagine if I could find some more people who had similar skills and plug them into such a team. It would change the world… wouldn’t it?
So, I ask you was writing articles a waste of time? After all no one cares what you have to say until you do something. You cannot expect someone to be impressed with what you will do in the future. Humans look at the past to judge. Fine, there is the score board. Don’t stare at it too long. The game is still in play. Well, kind of fun stuff when you think about it and that is the first chapter of my writing career and since I am writing a book on how to become a writer, you know, I would like to hear your story too.
