Online Copywriting Tactics That Super Glue Your Visitor To The Page

The Internet has created a global market place where you can sell your products and services anywhere in the world. This has created the need for online copywriting for thousands of businesses. The majority of the small business owners have tried to write their own copy, to save money or they have felt they can do it successfully. Online copywriting has been treated by some copy writers as something very different and accordingly they have tried various approaches. Some have worked others haven’t.
Hi, my name is Cynthia and I have spent the last 4 years writing copy for websites. I have found that by sticking with the basic principles of selling, my copy has been very successful. I would like to share with you some of the techniques that have consistently worked for me.
• Writing copy has always been seen as replacing the face to face salesman. This is the basic principle that has always worked and will continue to do so.
• Everyone talks about scams on the internet; this has made selling even more difficult. People are suspicious of the small business owner who they have never heard of and could be based anywhere in the world. The most important need that has to be satisfied before your visitor will put his credit card details anywhere is TRUST. He cannot see you, he cannot talk to you so your copy has to do that for you. Establish trust before you ask for his money.
• Because we are constantly told that visitors to your site will only stay for seconds before they make the decision to stay or leave a new theory that only short sales pages will work has evolved. My experience has taught me, if you write in an interesting way that your targeted reader likes he is quite happy to read a longer sales page. It is not the length of the copy but if it is interesting and holds his attention. The secret is writing about him. Reveal the benefits of your product, what they will actually do for him. He does not care how it works just so long as it works for him.
• One of the most important parts of online copywriting is actually asking for the business. In a face to face situation many people simple do not ask for the business they just stand there hoping the person will buy. Online selling does not give you the opportunity to just stand there. Your visitor will just leave the page with a simple click. Copy writing for the web requires every selling step. You have to ask for the sale. Make it obvious and easy for him to do. Asking for his money (getting the sale) should be after you have got his trust, and told him all the benefits of your offer, not before.
If you use these tips your conversion rates will improve. Online copywriting skills can be learnt without you having any previous writing experience. The website below is an excellent starting point if you are looking for ways to become a skilled online copywriter.
