5 Easy Steps To Write A Book

Writing an instructional book doesn’t have to be something that takes years to accomplish. You can actually write a book or eBook in as little as a few days — if you establish the framework first.
Roll up your sleeves and bang out the hard work in the beginning. Do this and the writing becomes effortless fun as your fingers soar across the keyboard. This formula works like magic when writing a “how to” book. It’s a proven formula that delivers impressive results. Follow these 5 easy steps to write a book and set yourself up to succeed in a big way.
Step #1: Set Your Target.
Decide on the outcome you want at the finish line. Is it a 50 page ebook, or a 250 page manual you want to write? Both are attainable, but you need to know what your target is in order to hit it.
If your goal is a 50 page ebook, dissect it down into 10 segments of 5 pages each, or 20 segments of 2.5 pages. If you want to write a 250-page manual or home-study course, break it down into 25 chapters of 10 pages each. Keep in mind that what you’re doing is establishing the parameters. You’re beginning to crystallize your thoughts and evolve your book idea into something you can envision – something more tangible. These numbers are a guideline only designed to give you something to work with from the start.
Step #2: Identify the Problem and Create The Ultimate Solution.
“How to” books are problem solvers and every identifiable market has problems you can fix. Your mission is to figure out the most annoying problems and then to craft a solution in the form of a book. Help the people in your chosen market solve their problem(s) better than anyone or anything else and you stand to make a lot of money. How much? Only time will tell but your potential in providing helpful unique information is virtually unlimited.
Step #3: Develop Your Chapters.
If you’re shooting for 20 chapters, brainstorm like crazy to create a list of 30 possible topics. You want to choose the most important information and base your chapters or segments on those, so it helps to start with a larger than necessary list and whittle it down from there.
Spend 5 minutes of focused effort listing keywords, topics or concepts related to the topic of your book. Don’t stop to edit or analyze. As the thoughts come, capture them and continue to do so until the timer sounds. On a good day, you’ll be amazed at your productivity. Even on a day of average creativity, 5 minutes spent brainstorming can produce a bounty.
Step #4: Choose The Best Topics, Organize Them Into Chapters and Break Each Chapter Down
Now that you’ve got a large list of potential chapters, choose those you want to include in your book. Once you’ve narrowed it down, arrange your topics in a logical sequence. Keep your reader in mind as you do this. Start at step number one and then move onto step number two. Make it logical and easy to follow. You want your reader to get the most out of your work.
Once you’ve decided on the chapters of your book, it’s time to build the content framework for each. The purpose of this step is to give you solid material and “Idea-starters” you can run with once you kick into high-speed writing gear.
Use a fresh sheet of paper for each chapter and list all the relevant keywords and subtopics you’re going to cover. Each keyword, phrase, or idea will become the content of that particular segment. Do this for each chapter and you’ll have a detailed outline – one that makes the actual writing of your book super fast and surprisingly easy.
Step #5: Write It Bit By Bit.
Now it’s time to write your book. Take one segment and go nuts. Write like crazy for 7 minutes. When the timer sounds, move onto the next keyword or subtopic and do the same thing. Read the keyword or concept and then write whatever is relevant that comes to mind. But do so for now more than the allotted time. This ensures that each section is similar in length.
Follow these 5 easy steps to write your book and you’ll be amazed at what you accomplish. You’ll discover talent and creativity you didn’t know was there.
