In writing 100 articles since the beginning of the contest, I’ve discovered a few steps that make the process a bit simpler. I can also say that the more I write the simpler the process becomes and the more quickly I can finish the articles. Sharing these ideas and experiences seems like a good idea to both help others out and to clarify my own thoughts about what I’ve learned and how I can apply this in the future.
When I began writing last August, writing an article took sometimes an hour or two. After having written more than 210 articles, I can say not only does practice make perfect. Practice really increases productivity. So for the would-be writers out there begin writing and stick with it. For me, I can now regularly write 4 or 5 articles per hour if I have complete the appropriate preparation.
What do I believe is the the most effective preparation?
Before I discuss my personal experiences, the first most effective preparation is to listen to and read the resources provided by article writing sites. These tidbits improve readership, publishing rates, and marketing effectiveness dramatically from my experience.
Turning to my personal experiences (many of which are repeated in article writing site videos, blogs, and other resources), I’ve discovered a number of useful habits including:
Periodically, create a list of titles. By the way, this could be a great way to generate an eBook if you developed an outline with chapters and chapter subsections. The subsections might easily be an article each.
Second, use numbered lists to title articles. Readers like it. And, writing to the numbered items organizes your thoughts and speeds your writing.
Third, you can give yourself some freedom. While you most likely are writing for a purpose giving yourself a little freedom provides you an opportunity to write about other topics that interest you. Writing about other subjects can be refreshing after you have put yourself through drudgery of writing article after article on specific subject ideas. Additionally, writing about other topics gets the creative juices going and freshens your perspective.
Take some time to study other authors’ writing and see if you can pick up stylistic ideas to improve your own.
Look over the the writing categories and think out of the box about your main point of interest. Figure out ideas that lead articles to unexpected categories and collect new pockets of readers.
Review your writing style and set goals to change it up or improve with specific style changes and grammatical adjustments.
Combining these ideas is a great way to jump start your writing goals and create interesting, timeless, and stimulating articles for your readers.
