Should You Have Your Writing Translated Into Other Languages Online

Last year, I was discussing with a fellow eBook author the need to have one’s works translated into other languages. Then, recently, I was talking to a fellow online article author about why he translated his articles into Spanish and he wants to translate them into Chinese also, of course he admitted that was extremely taxing and time consuming, costly too. Okay so, let’s talk about this.
You know, recently I got an e-mail from Amazon telling me that my books would now be available in India. Currently they are available in France, Spain, Denmark, the UK, and the United States. Unfortunately, because my books have not been translated into French or Spanish I’m not seeing much action there. Those eBook authors who have their works translated will be more read, and they will make more money in their book sales.
Although English is the business language and Internet language of the world, for so many people it is indeed their second language or third. Right now, there are some 400 million Chinese that speak English, albeit simple English meaning about 750 words. Their grammar is not all that good, and they have trouble pronouncing most of the words, but they can read simple English and understand it. In the United States we have a tremendous number of students which are in the ESL category, or “English as a Second Language,” and if you really want to reach everyone, then it makes sense to translate your work.
Most of the books on the New York Times bestseller list have been translated into 10 or more languages, and they are red all over the world. Having an eBook translated into Chinese offers the author 1.34 billion more potential readers. That is rather significant isn’t it? In the future it may be quite easy due to all the sophisticated software, and crowd sourcing being used to help translate text. The smartest online authors will find a way to have their work translated to meet a larger audience, and make potentially more money.
Okay so, in answering the question which is also the title of this article; “should you have your writing translated into other languages online?” The answer is; Hell Yes! In fact, it hardly makes sense for me to continue this article with more compelling reasons because the reasons I’ve already given you are sufficient to motivate you to get your work translated as soon as possible. Not only for yourself, but I am assuming you have quality content and information to disperse to the world, well, that world is waiting. What’s taking you so long? Indeed I hope you will please consider all this and think on it.
