Is Writing Articles A Legitimate Profession – Can Someone Make Money Doing It

There sure are a lot of writers producing articles these days, especially an abundance of online content writers. It’s just amazing when you think about it. Not long ago, some had asked me a question during an interview, and his question went something like this; “Is it possible for someone to actually do well and make money writing articles?”
Well, we know there are lots of writers out there doing all sorts of writing jobs. In front of me at my desk I have a few books of “How to Write Articles” and the 2011 Writer’s Guide with folks who pay for various types of writing, and one of the largest sections in that guide is for writing articles in fact.
So, I suppose people can make money writing articles, but that’s not what I do, that wouldn’t be my specialty. Can people make money writing articles online, as in online article marketing? Well, the way I see it, if you are already in business, and you are already either selling something, doing consulting work, or you offer some sort of service on your website that article or informational marketing makes sense.
Writing articles online is not necessarily a money maker, unless you are perhaps writing for a magazine, they are paying you $.05-$.35 a word. I suppose there are some people who write articles for other people, as ghostwriters. I am uncertain if those people are making any money, because I think the field is flooded with writers who have either been laid off from the newspaper industry which has been having a tough time competing with the Internet, but really writers are a dime a dozen.
The reason I say this is because it used to be when you talk to people they would say; “someday I would like to write a book,” now everyone is saying they are writing a book currently. The Internet has leveled the playing field for everyone to become a writer, to write something, whether it’s an article or a book or something else. But it has also opened the door for a lot of people who don’t take it seriously, and are putting out a lot of crap. Now I know everyone has to start somewhere, and if I look at some of my older articles, in the beginning, I can see they are riddled with punctuation errors, somewhat embarrassing.
So I guarantee you I could not have made money writing articles back then. Indeed, I’d like you to please consider all this, and concentrate on being the best writer you can possibly be.
