Sales Letter Writing – 3 Crucial Tips For High Conversions

Good Sales letter writing is a highly sought after skill. It is the ability to write a sales presentation and get your reader to take action that makes a good sales letter. A sales letter replaces a face to face salesperson and therefore takes the same format as a sales presentation.
Hi, my name is Cynthia and I have spent the last 4 years writing copy for websites. I have found that by sticking with the basic principles of selling, my copy has been very successful. I would like to share with you some of the techniques that have consistently worked for me.
Whenever a sales presentation is given there are 3 crucial stages and this applies to the sales letter writing. This works for both a sales letter on the internet and a sales letter that is going through the post.
• TRUST: You must gain your readers trust. If this is a letter that is going to be read by people who do not know you or your product, the first thing to establish is trust. The best way to do this is to personalize your letter, introduce yourself and give a short story about yourself. Show empathy to you client by understanding what his problem is and how you can relate to him.
• CREDIBILITY: If he feels he can trust you he will read on and look for proof as to why your product or service is the answer. A good way to get credibility is testimonials. When you are asking your clients for testimonials you really want them to prove some of your claims. For example if you are selling on price you want a testimonial that states you have the cheapest product or service available. Ask them to give their full name (not just initials) and their location. A photo or video clip will also help convince your reader.
• CLOSE: This is the final stage and is very important. You have his trust, given him proof that you have an excellent product/ service but without convincing him to take action you will not get a sale. In some cases you might be trying to get an appointment for a consultation rather than an immediate sale. The same rules apply. You want him to take action, and the way to do that is to make the offer subject to certain limiting conditions. Make the offer only available for a certain length of time (if you say the offer is only going to be available for 10 days, you must stick to that or you will lose credibility). You can also say if you are offering coaching that it is limited to the first 20 people. Another method that works is a discount on the price for the next 2 days. A very popular incentive is to offer bonuses. These have to be of value; otherwise they are a waste of time. Again limit the time the bonuses will be available for.
Follow these guidelines and you will be amazed by the results.
It is now possible to go from complete beginner to writing excellent copy faster than you dreamed possible.
