Five Quick Copy Tips To Grab Your Customers’ Attention

Bad copy doesn’t work, and your website could well be full of really bad copy. Instead of attracting attention and promoting purchases, your site disappoints and deflects customers. But it doesn’t have to be that way. By following the five easy steps set out in this article, you’ll be able to write far better copy. And far better copy leads to more sales and more leads. Cause Trouble
Why does your reader need to sit up and pay attention? Because they’ll be in trouble if they don’t! By outlining a problem that your customer could be suffering from, you’re getting them interested in what you have to say. They’ll want to know if what you’re writing applies to them, and if it does, how your solutions can help them.
Speak to your Reader
Now you’ve made your reader stop and take notice, you need to make sure they know what you’re saying applies to them. You should speak to your customer directly, using words like “you” and “your”. Outline why the problem you’ve mentioned applies to them. It’s no good if you tell them that bad copy doesn’t work – you need to make them understand that there could be bad copy on their website!
Alliteration is Awesome
Not necessarily a new technique, but one that works. Alliteration is a quick shortcut to clever, convincing copy, and re-enforces the message that you’re putting out. By sprinkling your writing with the odd piece of alliteration, you’ll make it harder for your readers to resist your perfectly prepared pitch.
Set Out a Solution
Now your client’s interest is well and truly piqued, you need to set out a solution. They know the problem, they know it applies to them, and they’re feeling strangely compelled to listen to you. So now it’s time to close the deal. Let your customer know that you can provide a solution to all of their problems and lay out the benefits that your product or service provides
Seal the Deal with a Strong Call to Action
All you need to do now is seal the deal. Does your client need to call you? Email? Fill out a form? Or just read the article you’ve written? Set out what they need to do, reassure them that it’ll be quick and painless, then sit back and watch as your client follows your instructions.
