5 Easy Steps To Make Your Copy Flow

Sitting down at the computer to write copy can often have different degrees of success.
Some days you will sit at a blank screen for some time before getting started. Other days, your writing will be stilted and disjointed and perhaps the next day you will find it flows immediately! This can be rather frustrating if you have certain guidelines to meet.
Here are some ideas for you to help you plan your writing.
Create an Ideas Book
Creative people sometimes find that ideas will pop into their heads at the strangest of times. It is important to capture these ideas before you forget them. Keep a notepad with you at all times, or use our wonderful modern technology and go to your iPad or iPhone to make a note. Whether you eventually utilise these ideas doesn’t really matter, but you will gradually be building up a valuable bank of possible resources.
Decide on a Template
Take some valuable time to consider your topic. Write headlines, sub-headings, and underneath each, jot down some thoughts and ideas. This will give you a good outline of what you want to say and will also help to guide your writing so that you don’t go off-course.
Write, Write, Write
Use your template to help guide you through your writing. If you have spent time on producing a detailed template, it will be easy for you to get started straight away as you will already have many ideas organised and down on paper. Always refer back to your template, then just write, write, write.
Edit Later
When you are writing in full flow, it is important not to become distracted with editing or proofreading. Get all your ideas down on paper first and then proofread and edit later. As you know, it is so easy now to make corrections when word processing.
Review Your Writing
If you find you are struggling a bit in the middle of your writing, have a wee break. A breath of fresh air and a glass of water, or cup of tea will soon have you back on track. When you return to the computer, refresh your memory by reading over what you have already written. This is an opportunity to add or amend your template if any fresh ideas come to mind and this will give you the incentive to continue writing.
I hope you have enjoyed reading this article and have found it useful. Good luck with your writing!
