Ever heard the word “regurgitated” articles? That’s an awful way to describe an article, but in the world of article marketing, we see those everyday. I checked the meaning of the word “regurgitated” and what comes up at first sight are “to throw up”, “puke up”, “spew something out, usually something that doesn’t taste good”. Quite an ugly way to describe a piece of writing, I should say. And then comes the words, “repeat, echo, reproduce, duplicate” as in “Many lectures regurgitate old information”. And that’s really why you should avoid writing regurgitated articles, because if you just keep duplicating content, it simply makes your readers want to, shall we say, “throw up!”
Article marketers tend to forget that the whole idea of writing is not just to create backlinks to a money site. Of course, it is something that is often emphasized in SEO (search engine optimization), that articles are one of the best and cheapest tools to make your website popular in your niche. But, although there is some commercial value to the articles we write, we should also remember that our readers deserve new information that they could benefit from, not just some “regurgitated” content.
On days when the creative juices are not flowing and you have to submit 20 articles, yes, it may help you to just do a Google search on your topic, rewrite the article and voila! you have your 20 articles done. But, at the end of the day, you may feel like you have not really earned your pay, because you have not created something you can call your own unique concept. Given that, it is no wonder that article writers for hire (like me) would sometimes feel burned out and wondering – Is there any life after endless writing about hair loss, teeth whitening, erectile dysfunction, and how to get back with your ex? Sometimes, I’m just tempted to write something about how to get even with your ex by telling people about HIS hair loss, his unwhitened teeth and ah.. his erectile dysfunction!!
Anyways, if you are really longing for creative pursuits, I think that being a blogger for hire is not really the medium for it. This is why I take the time to write for my own blog, where I can freely write about things that I am passionate about.
I am passionate about writing, and although I get tired of “regurgitated” articles, they do have their place in this world of deadlines, multiple back linkings, and trying to earn your buck for the day. But I would advice writers to have a piece of the internet real estate, that they can call their own, where they can allow their writing to flow uncensored and where they do not have to worry too much about keyword density, for a change.
If you really must use other people’s articles to get some inspiration, try to add some insights on points raised in the article. Give the article a new lift (life) and see where it takes you. Talk from your own experiences, and develop an article based on your reflections about another article. The ideas are endless, and the inspiration actually comes from within – the more you listen to your inner voice, the more inspired you will be to write.
Write, write, write. If you are an aspiring article writer, and feeling discouraged about the writing jobs that you’re getting, don’t give up the muse! Have a day off from blog writing and instead, read poetry, or a good novel to freshen your mind. A day away from your computer would pay off – it will recharge you and could inspire you to write something you can call your own.
