Black Friday November 29, 2013 Product Sales

Black Friday is the day right afterThanksgiving Dayinside the United states and falls on the Friday after the fourth Thursday in the USA and falls on the Friday following the fourth Thursday in November. It is a busy shopping day and is a holiday in some states.

Black Friday, which is the day afterThanksgiving Day, is a busy shopping day. Here in Canada, we do not have a Black Friday, and in most cases, the shops advertise Black Fridy sales events, but they do not compare to the gross sales that are offered in the Unites States. People that live in a border town to the Unites States often take trips over in the USA so they can benefit from the amazing deals for Christmas items, and save a bundle.

What do people do?

Many people have a day off work or choose to take a day from their quota of annual leave on Black Friday. Some people use this to make trips to see loved ones or peers who live in other places or to go on vacation. Other people use it to start shopping for the Christmas season. Buying for Christmas presents is also popular on Black Friday. Many retailers have special discounts and lower their prices on some items, such as toys.

Public life

Black Friday is not a federal holiday, but is a community holiday in some states. Many people take a day of their annual leave on the day after Thanksgiving Day. Many organizations also close for the Thanksgiving weekend. Community transit systems may run on their natural schedule or may have modifications. Some stores extend their opening hours on Black Friday. There can also be congestion on streets to popular shopping destinations.

Background

Black Friday is one of the busiest shopping days in the USA. There are two well-known theories as to why the day following Thanksgiving Day is called Black Friday. One theory is that the wheels of cars in heavy traffic on the day after Thanksgiving Day left many black markings on the road surface, leading to the term Black Friday. The other theory is that the phrase Black Friday comes from an outdated way of recording business enterprise accounts. Losses were recorded in red ink and revenue in black ink. Many businesses, particularly small businesses, started making profits preceding to Christmas. Many hoped to start showing a profit, marked in black ink, on the day after Thanksgiving Day.

From November until January, places like Amazon and eBay, make profits that surpass the rest f the year. Online stores have also extended sales to the following Monday, which has now been coined Cyber Monday. Numerous deals can be found on the internet on the Monday and another great earnings day is enjoyed by not only the buyers who save the money, but the stores that sell the merchandise.
