July 4th is always a very busy day and night setting up for the firework shows that is going to make the whole town stop what it is doing just look up in the sky for about 30 minutes. A good display and lay out of the show takes a lot of time and preparation to to get it ready to go. To properly setup a fireworks display it takes approximately 6 people, give or take a few most of the day to get the wiring and layout down, so the show can begin at dark. Safety is most important issue when you get the display down, a certain amount of footage must be between the fireworks and the people. A large open area or field is best for the best quality show. Plan on about 2 hours to get the wiring down.
About an hour or so before dark, cars will pull up to see what is going on in the field and people will start asking a lot of questions. Hand shaking and laughter will be heard throughout the area while people wait to see the big fireworks show that is going to start at dark. At the end you will hear that it was a quite the show, not many people realized it was going to be a all finale type fireworks show, but people sure do love to drive in the country so it did not take long for word to get out that a local company was going to perform a fireworks show sponsored in part by a local business man, no public funds. Finally darkness sets in, cars pulled up beside the road. People pulling out some ice chest with drinks, getting their lounge chairs out. Noticing all the pick up trucks turned around so the tail gates were down with all the people coming together to sit on the back of them. It was like a huge family get together but not really family. It is amazing how firework shows can pull people together and make everyone feel right at home. All of a sudden you hear from a distance are you all ready? Whistles and shouts and hollers that would hurt your ears on any other day but not this day.
Then the first bang. My oh my that is pretty but then another and another. Bigger and louder. These are the teaser’s that we were being setup earlier in the day. Sometimes you’ll get a couple of big loud ones then beautiful colored ones. Off in the distance you could see other fireworks going off where the citizens monies were used to pay for the show. Quickly the sky was filled with fireworks exploding and all you can see was color everywhere. It is like the night had been filled up with rainbows everywhere you look. The traffic on the main highway was now slowing down, cars backing up. Next thing you know more cars are pulling up along the side of the road. Just coming to a complete stop. Then you look over to where the other fireworks were being shot, they have stopped with their show to watch this one. All you hear are explosions of all sorts and lighted effects going off in the sky everywhere.
There is nothing as beautiful as a quality fireworks show. As fireworks shows dwindle in America due to the lack of funding in the community, and our leaders sit on their hands in the process, local businesses that are doing well can contribute so much to there communities that will create unity. Fireworks shows do exactly that, they bring the community together, from the youngest to oldest and all those in between. When you see everyone standing near you and the children smiling ear to ear that is what makes memories for each of us. Basically what this means, memories are what we have, so make some with fireworks. It will always be with you. That can never be taken away.
