An article is just a mini-you. Don’t expect to include everything or you’ll end up with an ineffective blob of text. Now you can use this secret to give readers a slice of your expertise, woo the readers so they want more of what you offer, and get your article written quickly. That is what article marketing is all about, in a nutshell.
Most people can write 300-600 words per article in 30-60 minutes. That is an ideal range for the length of your article. You want to keep it concise, to the point but still useful for the readers.
You want to give readers just enough information to take away and leave them expecting more. Of course, you don’t leave them at that. You provide them with even more information by inviting them to your site and download your special report or other content.
Being concise but at the same time giving them enough to whet their appetite can be hard if you don’t know how to do it.
Fortunately, it is not that much of a hurdle at all. The key is to include what I call the “how” factor in the article. The 5 Ws (who, what, where, when, why) factors are important, but the how factor is the only thing that is necessary in every article.
You can write a how to article without any other factor and still people will be interested in reading it. That is just the nature of human beings. If possible, they want to know how to accomplish something immediately. When you write with that audience in mind, you can skip the other factors without hurting the quality of your article.
Don’t get me wrong. You don’t have to write long paragraphs and explain thoroughly how to do something.
Suppose you are writing about rose gardening. You may explain about different types of rose seeds – I made that up, I don’t know a thing about roses – but in the end you give just one tip to choose the right seed that will most likely to suit any garden.
Suddenly the readers feel there are some actionable thing they take away, and that immediately boosts the value of the article. Now you can stop right there because you have your job.
Notice how this article flows. I explain the foundation first but near the end give out information on how to inject value and share a slice of your expertise instantly. Now that’s something to take away. Practical tips are far more valuable than theories.
