Want to make a full time income from your writing? If you do, you’ll be pleased that it’s completely possible, and quickly too.
Firstly, you need to make a decision: what will you write? You can choose from a wide variety of careers: for example, blogging, Web content writing, writing fiction for the Kindle, or copywriting.
Which avenue you choose is up to you. Try the avenue which appeals to you the most, then have a chat with people who are already doing it, so that you can see what your choice involves.
Let’s look at three writing careers in which you can make a full time income.
1. Writing Kindle Fiction
You’ll love this if you’re a born storyteller.
If you check some of the Kindle writers’ forums, you’ll see that many people are making $1,000 a month, after just a few months. Some are making much more, of course.
One of my students is publishing a short story a week on Amazon. She’s writing erotica under a pen name. She won’t be doing this for the rest of her life, but she started writing just to see what was possible. She’s now making $1,000 a month, and has plans to go full time next year.
2. Blogging for Businesses
If you’re already a blogger, you have something valuable in your blog, even if it’s never made a cent. Your entire blog is a writing sample. You can use your blog to get blogging jobs, and go full time.
While there are blog jobs advertised, few of these pay well. To get the best paying jobs, you need to approach businesses directly. Use the Internet to find businesses for which you think you could blog, then just pick up the phone, and dial.
You won’t need to call many businesses to get jobs. Most businesses which have websites are well aware of the value of blogging. They don’t have the expertise to do it themselves. Most won’t even know that people like professional bloggers exist.
Call, and get gigs. It doesn’t get much simpler than that. Most bloggers who blog full time have a stable of clients; aim for six to ten clients eventually.
3. Web Copywriting for Businesses
This full time income opportunity is much like blogging. However, rather than articles, you’ll find yourself writing Web advertising material of many different kinds. If you enjoy writing, you’ll do well at this.
Most Web copywriters writers charge by the project. If they work on on-going projects, like Pay Per Click advertising campaigns, they work on a retainer.
As with blogging, approach businesses directly. Develop partnerships with graphic designers, and Web developers. Once you become established, clients will approach you.
If you want to make a full time income from your writing, there’s never been a better time. Get started today.
