If you’re looking for a way to combine entertainment with the outdoors this summer in Hoboken, NJ the Summer Enchanted Evenings Concert Series fits the bill.
All of the concerts are completely free of charge and all take place outdoors. Each one is held at 7PM on Thursday evenings. They will be held at the Amphitheatre at Sinatra Park. It’s important to note that dates can change at the last minute due to bad weather. Some performances will be rescheduled.
The concert series is partially funded by The New Jersey State Council on the Arts/Department of State. There are a number of sponsors of the event and it’s not too late to still become one.
Here’s a look at the upcoming schedule of performances:
June 6: Hoboken Public Schools’ Music Students, gives local students a chance to showcase their talent. The schools that will be performing include the Calabro School Chorus, The Hoboken Rockin Redwing Band, Calaabro School String Ensemble, Wallace School Chorus, Wallance 2nd Grade Chorus, The Wallace Shcool Beginner Band, and Connors School Chorus.
June 13: Sinatra Idol Contest is a fun evening that will recreate American Idol with a twist. Contestants will be singing a Sinatra song in his style and will be judged by a panel. The winner will receive a trophy and prizes. There is an after party for this event taking places at Little Town, NJ, 310 Sinatra Drive at 9:15PM.
June 20: The New Jersey Symphony Orchestra will bring you a true classical music experience. This event will take place at 7PM at Pier A Park. It’s recommended you bring along your picnic blanket and picnic basket to enjoy the music.
June 27: The Gordys will perform for concert-goers.
July 11: The Hoboken Summer Bash, which will be hosted by Frank Raia. This event will take place from 5:30-10:30. This one promises to be a real party atmosphere.
July 18: Hot Tunes in the Summertime featuring performances from a variety of artists. This event showcases local musicians that will be reinterpreting their favorite all-time summer songs. This beach party by the river promises to be a real summer smash.
July 25: Guitar Bar All-Stars is sponsored by the Guitar Bar. This event is dedicated to pure rock and roll classics. The band is made up from the staff at Guitar Bar.
Aug. 1: Ray Rodriguez Y Su Swing Sabroso celebrates Puerto Rican music at its finest. This event is sponsored by the Puerto Rican Cultural Committee, Raul Morales, President. For more information on this event you can visit www.swingsabroso.com.
Aug. 8: She Rocks pays homage to the female singers. This event showcases female fronted bands with performances by The Pretty Babies, Abbe Rivers, The Fave, Karyn Kuhl Band, and Alice Genese.
Aug. 15: Will have you getting your swing on with Swingadelic.
Aug. 22: Julio Fernadez is on hand to entertain along with special guests. The musical style is soul, funk, and jazz. More information can be found at www.myspace.com/62157842.
