U.S. citizens do not require a visa to get into the Solomon Islands. Travelers will need to have a valid passport, onward/return ticket, and proof of adequate funds. You may be rejected boarding at check-in or turned around upon arrival in Honiara if your documents are not in order.
Visitor permits are provided upon arrival at Henderson International Airport in Honiara, and you can enter any amount of times provided that your entire time in Solomon Islands does not exceed 90 days in a 12-month period. If you arrive on a one-way airline ticket, you need to have documents declaring your business; this consists of a work permit if you’re intending to work in the Solomon Islands. The Solomon Islands’ authorities rigorously implements immigration laws and you may face fines and other penalties if you continue being in the country more than the authorized period of your holiday.
If ever you show up on a vessel, visit the nearest immigration office to fill out arrival forms and obtain a visitor’s permit or e-mail the Immigration Director.
Supposing that you arrive in the Solomon Islands by aircraft but plan to leave by yacht, you need to obtain a visitor’s permit before you arrive by contacting the Director of Immigration. The application should specify your arrival date, the ship name and registration details, the vessel’s arrival date, and the approximate time you will spend in the Solomon Islands. It should additionally seek entry on a one-way (arrival only) airline ticket. The Director will issue a permit to be presented at airline check-in. If you do not have this permit, you may be refused boarding. Please permit at least four weeks for the permit to be issued.
