How To Write Article Titles That Attract Readers Like Magnets
If you want to learn how to draw massive numbers of readers to your articles then read this article of mine. You and I both know that article titles are the key to getting lots and lots of traffic. Do it right and your articles get read by thousands. Do it wrong and your articles are going to be read by less than one hundred people over their lifetime.
The key to writing great articles is understanding what motivates people. Humans are motivated by fears and desires. Your article title should try to grab a reader’s interest by either speaking to a strong desire the person has or speaking to a strong fear that they have. In my experience fear works better than positive desires.
People have these underlying pressure points that are always bubbling inside them subconsciously. If they happen to catch some phrase, like your article title, and that phrase stirs this subconscious desire, you can bet your bottom dollar that they are going to read on a little more. It tickles their pressure point like salt stimulates your taste buds. It is simply impossible for them to resist looking farther. The only way they will not look farther is if they have been fooled a few thousand times in the past over the same technique. Trust me. They have to be fooled a thousand times before this method stops working.
It is simply impossible for the lazy teenager to resist an article title that promises to show how any teenager can get rich overnight. It is impossible for them to resist an article title that tells a teenage girl how to look like a Playboy model for under five dollars. It is simply impossible for a twenty something man to resist reading about how to date a Playboy bunny or how to date a stripper. These are underlying desires, especially ones based around health, sex and money. People just cannot resist the temptation to look. They will read other articles with similar titles again and again and again. They never get sick of it.
The best example of excellent article titles are the ones you read on the cover of major magazines. I like to use Women’s Health magazine as an example. The writers are exceptionally good at writing snippets that speak directly to our pressure points. They know that we women want to look sexy even as we age. They know that we are all afraid that we are going to lose our sex appeal. They know that sex appeal is the underlying reason behind why we workout, why we diet and why we spend all this money on fashion and makeup. If a title suggests some simple way that we can become sexier, you can bet that a lot of us are going to read it.
Make sure that your article actually talks about what the reader expects will be in there. Otherwise you will instantly lose all credibility and trust. You won’t get any visitors to your primary website either. If done properly though, you will funnel a whole lot of targeted traffic to your intended destination where you can profit from it. Find out what your target audience is afraid of. Find out what the real motivating factor is for them reading the article. What do they really want? Target that in your title. You will attract massive numbers of readers and far more than you otherwise would.
