Below is a paragraph from a site I regularly receive email alerts from my Yahoo. I am making the liberty of using this to illustrate the conflict a newbie is subjected to when writing articles.
“….a large amount nation attain the a large amount arduous gadget headed for achieve concerning behind weight, is deciding taking place the acceptably diet before weight loss plan with the intention of suites their situation.”
If I may assess this, I say:
First – the editorial staff of the directory this article was submitted is less than conscious of their job;
Second – the author probably used a keyword article writing software that cannot discriminate good grammar and syntax.
The sad part is that I read articles written this way almost daily. They are generally not written for reading pleasure but to satisfy search engine requirements to rank with Google. While this is everybody’s dream, a newbie should sacrifice article clarity and coherence for keyword stuffing. Branding must be made by people who read and like your articles rather than Google’s or yahoo’s spiders.
Let content guide you:
When you are new and are testing the waters, do what you like to do best and foremost. In other words, when you write your first dozen articles write from your experience, your viewpoints, your preferences and desires, from your heart. If people like what they read, they will come back for more. If they don’t, no amount of keywords can make them. So consider these when you write your first articles:
1. Write from your strength:
This comes easy if you write for the niche you have a natural affinity with. The wealth of information you naturally have can give you the confidence your readers cannot doubt.
2. Just write:
It often happens that putting your thoughts cohesively and comprehensively is a real task. Don’t let this bog you down. Just keep on writing whatever comes to mind of your subject of interest. Pretty soon, you will be able to link these diverse thoughts together into a complete and coherent article.
3. Put the icing on the cake:
Once you have organized your thoughts cohesively and have come up with an article, make it look attractive by having a catchy title. To provide relevance, search through your content for appropriate words that can form a title. This to make your article attractive for people to read and a title that connects with the contents. I don’t know how many articles I’ve read with titles outrageously in disconnect with their contents.
4. Be a friend:
Nothing irks me more than to be lured into reading an article with contents nowhere near what it says in its title. It makes me feel betrayed, made a fool of. This is not being very friendly, is it? Friends deliver on their promise, don’t they? Friends don’t betray their friends and mostly, you don’t take your friends for a fool.
The above will not make you hit the top rankings of search engines but they will earn you valuable readers that will, hopefully, become buyers along the way. Besides, if you just keep on writing, you will log thousands of words no search engine can ignore.
