5 Tips To Writing Effective Articles

Writing effective articles is a skill that comes naturally to some, is gained through experience by some or emulating other writers by others but no matter how the skill is gained it is a valuable tool in many worlds whether it be education or advertising, whether used to preach or protest.
When using the word ‘effective’ I mean an article that engages a reader, makes them curious to learn more about it’s topic and most importantly (to Me) is interesting.
I personally learned how to write effective articles by reading numerous authors over the years in varying genres and picking up on what I enjoyed about their writing.
After that I learned to emulate them and then finally found my own style.
For the article writer starting out I’d offer these 5 tips.
1. Research Your Topic Thoroughly.
When You’ve learned only a small amount about a topic it’s actually quite simple for a reader to tell.
You may be able to state all the facts but there is a missing ‘factor’. This ‘factor’ that I speak of is almost intangible but if I were to compare it to something it would be ‘experience’.
In the same way You can tell how long a person has been driving almost instantly simply due to the way they act, ‘something’ about the way they fasten the seat belt and back out the drive You can tell if a person actually knows about a given topic.
A certain ‘quality’ to their expression, a certain ‘manner’ in how they turn a phrase.
2. Find Your Own Angle on the Topic.
Even if Your view differs slightly, express it. Though originality may seem hard to come by especially when there are thousands of other articles on Your given topic there will be something different about the way You feel about it. When You find it let it shine through Your writing.
3. Be Concise.
Wanting to get all the information possible into Your article is a wonderful goal but remember that the goal is to help the reader understand as quickly as possible the main points of Your topic.
As I said in the introduction the article should leave a reader wanting to know more so they will do their own research.
Get the main points across and head off for a latte.
4. Have a Good Time.
If it’s a topic You’re interested in shouldn’t it be fun researching & writing about it? Oh Yes, say true it is. Then why the morbid feeling about writing them? The ‘day to go to the dentist’ feeling about writing?
What in my humble opinion has happened is that after High School or even Elementary when We were forced to write essays about topics We didn’t care much about a nasty taste has been left in our mouths. We’re all grown up now, we’re allowed to have fun however We want.
Yes, even when writing articles.
5. Re-read & Spell-Check.
After You’re done always read what You’ve written and after that read it one more time just for good measure. A beautiful, concise, informative & interesting article could be ruined by the author writing something such as ‘and that’s the best way to keep Your Cadddilacc clean’.
Here’s Moi Wishing You the Very Best in the World & Happy Writing Dear Reader.
