In this article, I’m going to make the argument as to why submitting your original content to an article directory, not only makes sense, but is really smart.
In today’s world of online marketing and Internet marketing, producing original, high-quality content is one of the most important things you can do for your business.
Why?
Content is king, and the search engines have dropped the hammer on duplicate content meaning whoever is the original owner of online content will get all the kudos from the search engines. All the sites that post the same content in a ‘duplicate’ way will not get results with the search engines. In fact, they may even get banned.
So if you’re busy creating valuable content for your business that is original and powerful, why would you ever consider submitting it to an article directory?
The answer is resoundingly simple. It’s a ‘more than fair’ exchange with an article directory.
See, when you submit your content to an article directory, you are giving them your original content to be used and read on their site, but you get something huge in return. You get a chance to have a call-to-action in the resource box they give you.
That’s a fair exchange… They get the content on their site in exchange for a call to action to your site.
Plus, let’s be real here. Their site is getting probably a million times more traffic than your site is. Wouldn’t you want your content to be seen by as many people as possible? Isn’t that the reason for doing content marketing? You’d better believe it is.
So if I’m a content marketer, I’m more than happy exchanging the location of my content in exchange for more eyeballs on my content. Yeah sure you have to follow the rules of the article directory or your content won’t get posted, but it’s been my experience that their rules end up protecting everyone in the long run.
It’s funny to hear that after the big Google update (which I believe they called it Panda), people say that article marketing and content marketing is dead. From what I’ve seen, that couldn’t be further from the truth. In the new age, especially as the Internet matures, only quality content will make the grade. Quality content is what will be required to be on the first page of the search engines.
So, bottom line is you can always put your content on your own site and create content in whatever way you want, but submitting your content to article directories is a more than fair exchange that usually is a win-win for both parties.
