Traveling Around The Country And Writing – Does That Make Sense?

Not long ago, I talked to writer of short fiction, and she had some magnificent creative writing examples to share with me. She said she was inspired to write by her travels and really wished that someone would pay her to write and travel, as that would be her perfect dream job. So much so that she said she’d do it for the rest of her life. And really that does sound rather romantic, and a life well lived to me.
Perhaps, you too are a creative writer of sorts, in fact I am too. One thing I’ve noted is that when I travel I am very much inspired to write much like my acquaintance, I totally get it and understand where she is coming from, and/or going too – with both her travels and her writing. It’s a life’s journey and she is fully engaged in her life experience. I mentioned that indeed, I’d been to every city in the US over ten-thousand in population. She asked how that was possible, very much intrigued by the concept.
Well, you see, I traveled full-time for 7-years after retirement, but before that I franchised my company and set up franchises in 23-states, 110-markets, servicing some 450 cities in four countries. So for nearly ten-years I was doing that traveling everywhere on business, prior to retirement and cruising around for personal enjoyment.
You would be AMAZED at how many people I’ve met, both in business and by chance, and how that has completely helped me in my writing and inspired me to jot down my thoughts. Yes, I’ve written on travel topics, and I’ve met freelance writers at RV parks and traveling who write and travel to pay for it. They love their lifestyle, can’t blame them.
Over all, I have not written on my personal travels much, but I’ve written on my observations while traveling. I’ve been to all the aviation museums in the country for instance, and written a ton on that topic of aviation and history. I often sit in coffee shops and talk with locals, about whatever they want to talk about, that subject could be nearly about anything.
So, I asked my acquaintance; where are you planning to go next? What else have you written? Turns out she is quite accomplished and wants to now travel the world! Awesome, completely and positively awesome, and if you are reading this and you agree that traveling and writing could be the adventure of a life time, why not shoot me an email – let’s compare notes!
