Whether you have never written an article before or have a good deal of practice doing so, you can always use some pointers on how to make your articles better, especially, when the main focus is to lure people in and get them interested enough to continue on and, potentially, become clients of yours. The problem is, writing can be the most important thing you do when it comes to your own website and throughout the course of your social networking marketing platform. Therefore, if you do not learn to improve your writing skills, you could end up lost in the shuffle.
# 1 — Make It Interesting
Obviously not all topics are going to be interesting to begin with, making it more challenging to make the writing about them engaging. The thing is, poorly written articles can make even an interesting subject bland and dull. Much of it simply has to do with the writing style and sentence structure. When you write, imagine you are speaking to someone, instead. However you would let your words flow naturally, in person, is how you should write them down for someone to read.
# 2– Get to the Point!
Make sure you make it obvious what the article is about and make that clear within the title and the within the first paragraph. Also, make it a point to get to the point by saying what you need to say in as few words as possible. You may know a lot or have a lot to say on a certain subject, the problem is, you may lose your reading audience. Even if the writing is captivating, readers have much shorter attention spans now than years ago.
# 3 — Keep It Short
Not only should the article be as short as possible, the paragraphs should be short as well. If you do need to write a longer article, break it down in to two separate pieces. You can even simply refer to each one in the title as Part I and Part II. Also, be mindful that sentences do not run on too long, either. Wordy sentences can be very confusing for readers.
# 4 — Sell without Being Salesman Like
If what you are writing about involves your business, just make sure you don’t come across as the typical salesperson. To avoid this, again, think about how you would talk to someone about the topic at hand. If you sound like someone you would want to avoid, time to change the tone or the approach.
# 5 — Break up the Format
If you are going to have multiple articles as content in one area, your website for example, try to use different formats. Use numerical points, such as this article does for instance, or bullet points, while others can be purely text. This helps break up the monotony and makes the page look less dull. Believe it or not, having a page that is too plain and structured can drive traffic away from the page.
