What Can Bobby Darin Teach Us About Becoming A High Paid Writer

If you want to become a highly paid writer that writes about your true passions, and gets paid handsomely for it, then keep reading. This is an inspiring story about how to do what you need to do, in order to be able to do what you want to do.
If you’re like most aspiring writers, you’ve got some real passion inside you. Some stories, ideas, and points of view that just have to get out there. Maybe you’ve even gone as far as contacting some agents and floating ideas, only to be told that without an audience, you’d be better of doing something else.
Well, that same thing happened to Bobby Darin. He became popular with a couple of songs. One was “Splish-Splash,” and the other one is “Mack The Knife.” The second song was the kind that he’d always wanted to sing. But when he approached the recording studio, they told him no dice. The famous Dick Clark even told him it was a bad idea.
So what did old Darin do? He recorded not what his true passion was, but what was popular at the time, which was rock and roll. Now some people might say he’s a sellout for doing this. But he had a plan. He really didn’t give up so quickly.
He knew that he had a good voice, and it was only a matter of time before he’d become a start. Just like you. You know you’ve got passion, and it’s only a matter of time before you hit it big with your writing talent. Back to Bobby.
After the success of “Splish-Splash,” and the money he earned from doing it, he recorded “Mack The Knife” on his own dime. Despite what the supposed “experts” told him. And guess what? It was massively successful. It went straight to number one.
So what does this mean for you? Before you hit it big by writing on your true passion, you’ve got to do some grunt work. You’ve got to take jobs writing about things that aren’t all that interesting. Once you’ve got a proven track record, and a huge list of clients to back you up, you’ll have a much easier time writing that novel, or writing those opinions of yours that are so important.
Take a long view of things. Take a Bobby Darin approach. Believe in your ability to eventually hit it big, and then simply roll up your sleeves and get to work. You’ll be glad you did.
