Article Ideas – How To Come Up With Things To Write About

There are several ways you can get new article ideas. How you can come up with things to write about is a question of creativity. The whole world around you is filled with article subject ideas. Look around you:
Current events – tv, radio, internet, newsletters
Hobbies – what is new? What is trendy?
Careers – what happens in your line of business?
Health issues – tv shows, family or friends
Articles you have read, but which needed a twist
Book reviews – have you read a book you want to share with others?
Moral issues – specific things that caught your eye

All of the above things could easily be developed into an article idea.
What you need to do is think the other way around from what you have done before. Previously you may have thought you had to get an assignment to begin writing. You should actually choose what you want to write about. It brings forth the best articles when you are truly motivated by either emotion, political opinion, fact-finding or some other unique perspective.
People don’t necessarily agree with the conclusions you make. It can still be a beneficial article for them to read because it provokes their own reasoning, and could perhaps lead them to think about something they wouldn’t otherwise have done.
We see this in many areas. We read about some current event somewhere around the world. A dictatorship beats the population, and suddenly appreciation for our own democracy is at the forefront of our minds. Likewise someone else might have experienced something similar, and it might awaken other thoughts. He might remember the pain of losing a good friend to such barbarity. Both have come to think of their own situation, but each having their own perspective.
This is important to note because we’re talking of the same event, but our reactions are always affected by the perspective we have on things.
Likewise, when you want article ideas, you also need to realize that your perspective could be just as good as mine, or even better, but we write based upon our own experience combined with education level, opinion, moral and ethical standpoint etc. All these little pieces of the puzzle work together to create a collected world view.
So next time you need article writing ideas, you just make a cup of coffee and take a piece of paper, and then listen to news on radio or tv. Within five minutes, you have your next article idea ready, and then you just have to convert your notes into an article. Before long, you’re ready for your next article also, and on and on it goes…
