Prostaglandins are hormones that are found in very tissue in your body. They play a vital role in cell reproduction and during an injury to support blood clotting. The problem with them is like any chemical your body produces, they can become overabundant.

Because they are your bodies first line of defense to injury your immune system recognizes them as a trigger to action. Your immune systems reaction to them can become sensitized, like an allergic reaction, causing your body to over respond. In the case of an allergic reaction, your immune systems over reacts with cold like symptoms. In the case of prostaglandins sensitivity your body tissue swells causing chronic pain like Osteoarthritic, Neck Aches, Rheumatism, Lower Back Pain, Neuralgia, Shingles, Stiff Joints, Carpal Tunnel Syndrome, Tendonitis, Muscle and Joint Pain, Pinched Nerves, and Fibromyalgia.

A major problem with cryonic pain is that it causes depression by using up all of serotonin produced in your brain. This just adds to your suffering and in some cases leads to drug addition. Even light pharmaceutical drugs like Ibuprofen and aspirin have been found to have some very serous side effects like Gastrointestinal Bleeding and liver dysfunction if taken on a long term base.

The good news is that there are natural compounds, that do not have side effects, which treat your body’s over reaction to prostaglandins. White Willow Bark whose active compound Salicin, converts in your body to Salicylic Acid, lowers the level of prostaglandins in your body. Lobelia Root is a natural muscle relaxant which is high in vitamin A. Boswellia tree leaf is a natural anti inflammatory which prevents white blood cells from entering swollen tissues promoting overall blood flow. These compound make for a very good natural alternative to pain relief, and as you can tell by their properties they don’t just mask the symptoms of cryonic pain but act on its source your bodies prostaglandin hormones.

The best example of what I am Talking about is your body’s reaction to weather changes. When the barometric pressure suddenly drops your joints experience swelling due to the fluids in them being under a slightly higher pressure. If you are a scuba diver you will understand what I’m talking about from your certification coerces. Taken to an extreme the same phenomenon in diving terms is called the bends. At the sea level through the pressure difference is only fractions of a pound or atmosphere.

When we are young our bodies adjust to the changes with no real pain or discomfort. As we age due to injury, inflammation, and our immune systems sensitivity to hormones our body releases like Prostaglandins. We experience pain and discomfort even long after your joint fluid has equalized pressure due to our immune systems overreaction. What these natural compounds do is send out the chemical messages to your bodies cells to stop the injury response inflammatory reaction. Once these chemical messages have been sent your body’s cells go back to normal function and the pain and inflammation is relived.
