Do you want to know the secrets to success in your copywriting career? You don’t want to know about them when it is too late so it’s best to get acquainted with them now. This way, you help yourself to enhance your strengths and to take time to improve the things that you are not so good at.
So what are the secrets that famous copywriters have up on their sleeves? A successful copywriter can simply sell, that’s it. However, talking your way into the sale is easier than writing about something and hoping it would sell like hotcakes.
Here the trade secrets that every successful copywriter knows by heart:
Focus on the action
When trying to send out a sales message, focus on the action that you want your prospect customer to take. Use action words in your ads such as grab, touch, reach, pull, etc… When you write an “action” frame of mind, it simply influence their actions towards what you’re selling. You have to be careful not to be too pushy though that it will turn off the client. You have to learn to balance between being friendly and being hard at the sell. It is said that the headline or the first sentence can either make you a sale or can turn off the opportunity for millions of customers to buy the product or avail of the service. Practice writing this way and you will develop that fine-tuned skill.
Don’t sell, solve!
It will make sense – read on. To convince someone to go for what you are selling, first you have to hit their “need” button. The three common needs are solution to the problem, answer to one’s dreams, a way to be the person he wants to become. When you sell something, it’s not just selling. It’s offering it as a solution to their needs. Because of this, you may want to put yourself in the shoes of the client. Imagine what your needs and dreams are. Use this information to write about the client’s needs so that you will be able to directly relate to him. Then finish off by offering the solution or remedy to the problem. You are sure to sell.
Give them proof
No one is going to believe a single word you say in your sales ads. They will pass it on as just another sales pitch. You should add testimonials about how effective it was (this has to be done by one of your prospects, not you); show reasons why you product is as effective and efficient as you say it is; and even show a summary of your own track record. People like proof; it gives them a guarantee that what they’re buying is good.
Tell it your own way
Here’s something important: don’t write it, tell it. When you write, you are constricted by rules in writing that may end up letting your ad sound formal, boring, or simply mediocre. Well, you are not a mediocre copywriter. You are a successful copywriter – and this small difference can make a big leap in your sales. When you write your ads, write it as though you are saying it to them – keeping the mood exciting with confidence.
In being a successful copywriter, you have to visualize how you would sell your product if you were talking, not writing. This will absolutely keep you on the right track.
