I will get straight to the point, literally. The pointed shoe is returning. In fact it has been trying to come back for a number of years now with very little success. It’s possible that there are too many distressing memories from the eighties when they were last regarded as the shoes to be seen in. However they seem to be making up for it as Spring 2014 sees the pointed toe on all shoe fashion from sandals, stilettos and flats.
The pointed shoe has dipped to and from of fashion many times over the decades. They can be tracked back to Byzantine times butalthough the first time it was the height of fashion in the style that we can relate to was in the late 1700’s as the ladies from France tried to move on from the hardship of the French Revolution by developing a fresh trend for shoes.
More lately the pointed toe became more prominent in the 1960’s when the pointed toe at the high point of its popularity was almost as long as the death defying height of the stiletto at the heel.
It is not surprising that the pointed toe keeps coming back as it is generally recognized that the pointed toe makes us look taller and our legs look longer and thinner hence making us look slimmer too which is a big bonus to those of us who are not built as a perfect size 2 (which means the vast majority of us).
The other charm of the pointy toe flat is that it looks fantastic with every outfit from jeans to formal wear even look good with a wedding dress. The point toe slipper flat shoe is set to be in this Summer in wedding trends.
So if you are searching for a new pair of shoes this season make sure they have the pointy heel. There are some softer changes to the style this time round though. Many of the shoes, especially the flats and stilettos are in fun vibrant patterns whether it be stripes, polka-dot or even a touch of snakeskin effect which is enough to add a touch of panache to any outfit.
Finally, when wearing your flats or stilettos always remember to look after your feet by wearing some no show socks or invisible socks as they are often called. This will not only protect your feet from rubbing and keep your feet comfortable and cool but also help your fabulous new shoes stay in shape and look new and last for longer.
