How To Write A Summary For An Article To Entice Readers

Introduction
So you have a great article to write, how do you draw a reader into your article. You do it by writing a great summary to get your reader interested in reading the rest of your article. So what exactly is a summary, when do I need to write a summary and exactly what does a good summary consist of? Here are some ideas on writing a good summary.
What Is A Summary
It basically outlines what the reader will learn when they read your article. I usually write articles that are between 400 and 700 words long, so I call my summaries Introductions. If you write much longer articles, which are many pages long, you may call it an Executive Summary.
When To Write A Summary
A summary can be written just about any time. Some people write them before the article is written to give them guidance on what to put in their article. Others prefer to write their summary after they have completed their article.
Whichever way you write your summary, after completing your article, make sure your summary contains the main points of your article. The summary should basically sum up the article content and entice your readers to read on. When the reader reads your summary, they should say to themselves I want to know more, and will go to your article to learn more.
What Is A Good Summary
A good summary should include the following points:
Key Words- Any good summary must include the key words from the article.
Objective Outline- Your summary should outline the basic points that are in your article without using the same words or sentences that are in the article body. For example, what I do is underline the main points in the article and summarize those points in the summary.
Do Not Repeat- Do not repeat the same information that is in the article.
Order- I like to summarize by keeping the information that is in the summary in the same order as in the article.
Combine- Your summary should be short and concise by combining several ideas into one sentence.
Conclusion
Any good article should have a summary or introduction to explain to the reader what they will learn and take away from your article. If you write a good summary you will get more readers of your article and more people to your resource box.
