Freelance SEO Article Writers – How To Protect Yourself From Bad Buyers

There are so many preparations that you need to do when you want to make money through freelance SEO article writing. You need to make sure that you have the right sets of skills, you need to fully understand this multi-million industry, and you need to know the effective ways to outplay your competitors. Another thing that you need to know is how to protect yourself from scammers or bad buyers. These are the people who do not intend to pay for the work you’ve done or those that will change the project brief so often and will require you to revise the articles several times. Here are some effective ways to protect yourself from these kinds of people:
Research. There are so many article writing websites these days. You write articles for them and they’ll pay you (that’s how it’s supposed to work). Before you join these sites, I suggest that you do your research first. You need to know if these websites have good reputation and if they really pay their contributors. I suggest that you find and interview some of their writers to get an idea. It will also help if you check out websites that are offering product, website, or service reviews. They might have something to say about the website that you would like to sign up to. You would want to sign up with those that have been in this business for at least 3 years and have several satisfied article writers.
Ask for a project brief in writing. Once you’re able to secure article writing projects, make sure that you ask for a detailed project description. This must include the required word count, the SEO techniques to be used, the preferred tone and writing format, the required amount of research, etc. Ask questions if something isn’t clear to you. Then, discuss issues about revision request with your buyers. Tell them how many times you’re willing to revise the article and put your agreement in writing. It will also help if you send the first couple of articles that you’ve finished and ask them if you’re on the right track. This will definitely save you a lot of time from revisions requests later on.
Ask for escrow payments. Most buyers are very cautious these days and a lot of them will not send advance payments. That’s okay. But to protect yourself and to make sure that you’ll get paid, I suggest that you ask your buyers to set up escrow payments that they can release once you finished the project to their satisfaction. If that’s not an option, you can ask them to pay you in batches like for every 5 articles. Don’t start writing their articles until you have a crystal clear agreement about payments. The last thing that you would like to happen is to realize that your buyers are nowhere to be found after you’ve written 100 or so articles for them.
