The international software market is booming but competition is fierce. With new software being released regularly and new developers looking to break into the industry all the time, many companies find getting a foothold that will help them gain success challenging. To improve their chances and offer support to software developers in general, the ISDEF (International Software Developers Forum) conference has been held twice a year since the first one in 2002 which attracted 300 attendees.

The Conference Agenda

The 2009 fall conference will be held in Moscow, Russia at the Izmailovo-Alpha Hotel between October 1st and October 4th. As with previous conferences, a wide-range of topics will be discussed. This year’s agenda includes marketing and public relations information which can help even small software developers reach a larger audience. Practical topics on legal aspects of software development, hiring staff, and growing software companies will also be discussed at the conference.

For the first time, the conference will also provide software developers a chance to talk to potential investors about their work in attempts to get financing for their projects. This can be a huge opportunity for developers who can have time to sell their ideas and make presentations to individuals who can help make them realize their software development goals. Representatives of both Western and Russian investors are expected to attend the event.

Besides the investors, the conference will be attended by a wide-range of people from the software development and IT field. Marketing experts, PR professionals, and journalists reporting on the industry are expected to be present at the event, too.

About the ISDEF

The Independent Software Developers Forum (ISDEF) formed back in 2002 as a non-profit organization consisting of a number of software developers. Their goal was to help Russian software developers carve out a big niche of the international software market. To that end, the ISDEF began holding these semiannual conferences (one in the spring and one in the fall).

The association provides a wide range of benefits both for its members and for those in the software development industry. For example, they provide the tools and information fledgling developers need to get their software off the ground and in the hands of end users. The company also works closely with investors who appreciate the profit potential in the software market but who may find connecting with viable software developers difficult. The association also helps developers improve their connection to the mass media and ensures the government takes the industry seriously as a major player in the global software market.

When the first conference was held in 2002, 300 individuals attended, an impressive number given that it was the first such conference held. Future events have also inspired high attendance numbers.

Attending the Conference

Software developers and others in or interested in the industry need to register in advance for the ISDEF conference. While members can attend for free, non-members are required to pay a $200 registration fee. Attendees can also book their accommodations and can choose to attend several dining events, including the banquet on October 3rd, when registering. Extra fees are required for these events and the accommodations.
