Article Writing Skills 101 – Cannot Get Your Articles Read (You Can Now)

If you are having trouble getting your articles read or even published, do not despair. You are not alone as most article writers go through a learning curve to get to the point that their articles catch the eye of readers or publishers. In this article, we will explore the inside tips to help you get your articles noticed.
– What is in a title? A catchy title is like a shiny new car sitting on the side of the road with a “For Sale” sign on it. It catches your attention and you look even if you are not really looking to purchase a car. Whereas, a dull and boring title is like the clunker sitting in someone’s yard with weeds growing up around it and the same “For Sale” sign on it. It just does not catch your attention.
Make sure your title is catchy or interesting enough to get a potential reader to stop what he or she is doing and read your article. Since people are busy and there are thousands if not millions of articles on most every topic, you must make yours stand out. Draw them into the article with your title.
– Use keywords. Conduct some keyword research to find out what people are looking for. There are tons of free online keyword research tools you can use. Try to use long tail keywords, which consist of three or four words strung together. This will cut the competition and make sure your article is more easily found.
Try to include your keywords in your title and have a keyword density of 1 to 2%. This means you should use your keywords one to two times per one hundred words in your content. This will give you a much better chance that your article will be found and read. It will also improve the chances of your article being published.
– Include the reader. Focus on what the reader would be looking for. Try putting yourself into the reader’s shoes and think as if you were the reader. What questions would you ask? What type content would you want to see? How long should the article be? Answering these types of questions before you begin to write can give you a better chance of your article being read.
It is okay to include personal experience in your articles, but remember to keep the focus on the reader. The reader is more focused on what he or she will get out of the article and how it will make life easier or solve his or her problem.
– It has to be fun. Make your articles fun to read. There is enough stuffy, dull and boring content available. Just look at the news, full of gloom, doom and negativity. People get enough of that stuff. Give them a break and make your articles fun to read. If you can give someone useful information or cheer their day up along the way, they are more apt to read more of your articles.
Making your articles interesting and cheerful will help to create a crowd of followers that are always looking for your next new article. This is when it gets fun, people searching the Internet hungry for a new article from you.
– Write like you. As you begin to write, you will create your own style. This is a good thing, so do not try to copy or emulate other writers. Just be yourself! Your readers will appreciate it a lot more and once they begin to appreciate your style, they will appreciate you more. If you simply copy someone else’s style, you will just become another me too… who wants that?
