No matter how much time you put into writing articles, your time is wasted if someone searching for them cannot find them. This is the reason why so much emphasis is placed on choosing the correct keywords or keyword phrases. If you are new to article marketing, it may seem like a foreign language or very perplexing. This article will enable you to choose the keywords or keyword phrases that will make your articles rise to the top.
If your article does not contain the keyword or key phrase the reader is searching for, then he/she is unlikely to read the complete article or click your link in the resource box. Finding the correct keyword is essential if you want your article found and read.
When writing articles for article marketing purposes, you need to decide on a topic. Once you have decided your article’s topic, it is then time to pick your keyword or key phrase. There are three ways to do this:
Look for keywords with low to medium search results to reduce competition.
Pick keywords with high search results assuming more searches will improve the chances your article will found.
Choose keywords combining the above. These keywords have higher searches but lower competition.
Most Internet marketing courses will suggest you choose the latter but it depends on what the purpose of your article will be. If your article is to be used as website content, you will want keywords with maximum search results but minimum competition. This will increase the ability for your website to be found and not have to fight to get to the first page of the search results. Although this is a fabulous tactic, it is very hard in today’s markets.
To overcome this issue, you can use what is called long-tail keywords. This consists of multiple words interconnected to create a theme. An example would be instead of using the keyword “dog barking,” you might use the long-tail keyword “how to stop your dog barking.” Using 5 words or more makes the keyword becomes a key phrase. Same effect just different terminology.
When writing articles for traffic generation to a landing or squeeze page, there are two different ways to use keywords. First, the article can show up higher in the search results because of the directory pages that contain the article. Google and other search engines search the article directory itself, and this can get the article listed higher on the search engine. In this case, it is best to choose keywords with medium search and low competition.
The second option is the article directory has its own search engine function, which readers use to search for information they are interested in. This on-site search engine can list your article in the results as well. In this case, it helps to use keywords that are popular and searched for often. You are not worried so much about competition in this case.
