How to be Creative When You Are Stuck the Same Stuff Online that 100 Other Websites Are Selling

Things turned out to be a little different. All of a sudden you found out that to have an ecommerce business you have to to have a web site first. And after spending many hours on-line reading how to do it you finally had it up and running. Then you had to teach yourself how to get visitors to it. After asking on web master forums you even figured out what domain is and how to register one. Not only that but also to buy a ssl and install it on your site.

It felt so great when you were overcoming all this obstacles along the way and were secretly laughing at all your friends who thought that you were crazy. Pride, joy and satisfaction. You were satisfied because you just did it despite the disbelief of the people around you You kept telling yourself I will prove you all wrong and sooner than later you’ll be bagging me to show you what how I did it.

However, even though your website is on-line and getting a few visitors here and there you’re not sure you will succeed in this endeavor. It turned out that you aren’t the only person selling whatever it is that you are selling. The problem was the big boys in your niche that were blowing everyone else out of the water.

If you’re wondering how I know that the answer is pretty simple – personal experience. When I started out I had my behind kicked so many times that at one point I stopped taking count. I couldn’t sleep at night; I wasn’t happy and made the people around me miserable. That made me feel sick inside. In return I was making the people around me, the people I loved feel miserable. Fortunately, you can escape this fate.

Yes, yes and yes again. Despite the fact that you don’t believe it you can really run a ROI positive e-commerce business. Wonder how – just keep reading and you will find out.

But first things first. All you want is sales, right? And a lot of them. Then you need visitors to your website and a lot of them. There is one simple reason for that. On average only 3 percent of all website visitors buy something. If you are wondering why – here is the reason. According to different studies ninety seven of one hundred visitors to your site leave it without buying anything. This article will teach you how to make more sales than your competitors but remember this one thing. No matter how hard you try you will never be able to close 100% of website’s visitors.

The very first thing you need to ask yourself is this – what do I need to do to get visitors to my site. There are millions of ways to do that, do not trust me – just type the query into Google and see for yourself how many results it will return. However, in this article I don’t want to talk about any one of these traffic generation methods inparticular because my goal is different.

In this article I will teach you how to make website visitors chose to buy from you over your competitors even though you both carry exactly the same thing.

So here is the secret in one sentence – create value for your visitors. This is the way to differentiate your e-commerce site from the rest.

But let not put the carriage before the horse and explain in simple English what value and is not. Here’s my definition of value – giving your customers something tangible or intangible they can’t get no where else.

Let me tell you a story – on a bright and sunny day a while ago someone gave me a call. It turned out to be a man who I barely knew who had launched a site to sell bowling balls, bags and shoes not so long before that.

The site was nothing special. It had the same balls, shoes and bowling bags that could be bought at least 20 other websites even at better prices.. To give his site an edge over the competition this guy needed to make his visitors a offer they couldn’t resist in order for them to buy from him. This thing needed to be something they couldn’t get anywhere else.

Want to know what trick we pulled was? It’s very simple. We created about 50 or so product videos. Videos where the guy was demonstrating the balls, bags and shoes and giving his opinion on them. Where is the value here? Seeing what the products really look like made all the difference in the world and added value. Just think about that for a just one second. If you were to buy a bowling ball and on one site there was one image on the ball and on the other – a three minute video discussing it, everything else being equal who would you buy from?

Secondly, and in my opinion the most important reason is that people could actually see the face of the guy who was offering them the product. Feel free to disagree with me but my experience has taught me that given the chance people buy from people. They don’t want to buy from gigantic and faceless corporations. What we wanted to do with these videos was to bond with our potential customers. To make them feel like they’ve known the guy for ages, that he is a bowler just like them, that he is one of them.

And boy, did it work. Visitors couldn’t get enough of it The sales quickly, ’cause they liked what we gave them. They weren’t just buying bowling balls, bags and shoes but were also recommending their buddies to us as well.

You’ve probably noticed that what we gave them was something intangible, something they couldn’t take home and put it on the wall. However, you can provide something tangible if you want I am sure I do not have to give you examples of giving something to make the sale – for the guys here – free drink with every pizza slide purchase. If we wanted to do that with the owner of the ecommerce site we could have given a free accessory.

You can do that, too. Lock yourself up in a quiet room in needed and don’t leave it until you have five great ideas for providing value to the visitors to your website.
