Bartending is a very fun and beneficial occupation, side job or hobby. When learning to turn into a good bartender, there are several things one needs to prepare for. You may find yourself in a neighborhood bar, an upscale hotel, country club or dining establishment, or you may work several private parties around town. Aside from learning to serve mixed refreshments and pour beer, a good skill to have would be the ability to properly serve wine and champagne. Even though wine and champagne bottle service are really similar, there are a few differences. Here is a description of the basics of proper champagne service at a restaurant, hotel, or exclusive event.

First, determine what kind of champagne is available and being served for the night. This may allow you answer some a quick question in regards to the year the bottle was made, taste detailed description and price.

The first thing you do is, wipe off the bottle of champagne using a clean towel until it is really tidy and streak-free. Place the un-opened bottle inside of a wine bucket, full of ice.

Present the clean bottle for the guest by holding it with a clean, folded towell. The label must face the customer.

Dispose of the foil to a level below the wire loop. Twist the wire loop until its loose enough to remove.

As soon as the wire loop is removed, you must put your thumb above the cork before you place the towel on the bottle. A champagne bottle has around ninety pounds of pressure.

Immediately place a clean towel covering the cork of the bottle. Keep your thumb or hand over the cork to prevent it from flying out. Place your hand over the towel and grasp the cork firmly. Hold the bottle with a fortyfive degree angle far from yourself and the customer, and twist the bottle to pull out the cork.

Pour the champagne gently in to the glass. You may either tilt the glass or let it sit upright. Pour until the head reaches the rim of the glass. Allow the champagne head settle once. Then pour the champagne up until the head reaches the rim again. The champagne should settle to inside of a 1 / 2 inch from the top of the glass.

The champagne will be served from the right-hand side of the customer, just like wine. The bottle might be put into a metal container half filled with ice to keep the champagne chilled while it's waiting to be poured.

Follow these tips and your champagne service is certain to be first class!
