I always assumed that growing older would not be a great thing to happen, now that i'm coming close to half a century, I look back on my life and review things that I've accomplished. It doesn't seem that long ago that I was in my twentys, I recall this time well, I was half way through my military career, I entered at 18, eager as mustard!
Then along came the gulf war, "It was the best of times, it was the worst of times" to quote Charles Dickens. Never were truer words created. This war altered me in ways that are hard to describe, I left the military soon after, not through choice, but government cutbacks, as a reward for putting my life in jeopardy for them.
After that came civillian life again, I remembered it from growing up, however it wasn't quite the same, the military training and being around other army personel gets you to believe that everyone has the exact same standards as you do, which they do not outside of the army ranks. Hardly ever have I met with anyone who really does exactly what they state they will, bit of a shock to the system actually.
The first thing I did was take a sabbatical, off to the coast and acquired a pot cleaning job at a resort, simply to keep some money coming in. Still being youthful and from the computer game age, I spent days playing the games machines and nights and early mornings cleaning pots, I really blew my entire months money I was given upon leaving the military on the video games in about four days!
After my month off, I 'd intended to take a month so it was all according to plan, I headed back home and started work hunting, two days later on and I was fully employed again only this time as a security guard, accumulating money from banks and shops in an armored van, I was taken on for a 3 month agreement, I ended up there for four years! The summers were like driving about in an oven, we couldn't open a window and relied on the air conditioning system, which rarely worked, the wintertime were much better, the heaters typically worked well.
Around this time, I met my partner to be, one weekend; while out clubbing, not clubbing seals, but dance clubbing. It was a fairly long distance relationship, she had also traveled a fair distance to get to the club, as I had however in the other direction.
Being some 60 miles apart, I 'd visit her every weekend over the next 2 years till one day proposing, i'm so glad she said yes. I then gave up my security job and we moved in with each other to a place in the community she resided in. I 'd already been work hunting and everything went to plan, we moved in on the Friday and over the weekend and spent the rest of the weekend sorting out the flat and started my brand-new job on the Monday.
Eventually, my partner fell pregnant and created twins, 20 minutes apart, first a boy after that a girl, an additional life altering experience to look back on, there's no way to describe exactly how, it simply does. They have both now finished university and my baby girl has gotten married and had a youngster of her very own, a boy, good set of lungs on him is an understatement however we delight in caring for a baby once more. Just one baby is a great deal simpler to take care of with experience of twins!
When we were waiting for the birth to happen we thought long and hard about exactly what would be helpful as a present for the baby, my partner recommended teddy bears and cosy stuff so we both acquired differnt presents, myself being more practicle bought something practiclel, an ear thermometer, I chose an expensive one initially thinking it would be fantastic, exactly how wrong was I though!
It had a heated end probe to supposedly heat the tip so it didn't shock the baby with a chilly one, however this was lproved to give higher than factual readings by about 4° degree, after many panics caused by this horror and a few unnessesary journeys to the doctors, I ended up changing it with one half the cost, I 'll put a hyperlink below for where you can obtain it. This simply works as stated, I am used to measuring temperatures in Celsius however my daughter was shown in Fahrenheit so I found one that did both temperature scales, so we can both use it, her when in the home and my wife and I when babysitting. We've had no more unneeded journeys to the doctors and we are very delighted with.
it.
That actually brings me up to date with things for my first article, there's undoubtedly more thats took place in fifty years and with any luck a lot more to come too, an additional half century perhaps? More to come.
