The CSA automatic air release valve was designed to ensure the proper working conditions of water distribution systems, main transmission lines, and pipelines under pressure whenever the release of air pockets accumulated over time is needed. In case of pipe filling though the air vents will be in charge of allowing the evacuation of large volumes of air, while in case of draining the entrance. The latter is the most important function of a combination air release valve to guarantee the absence of dangerous negative pressure inside the main line. The CSA double functions air release valves are designed with an innovative concept (www.csasrl.it) , where the double floats technology is contained in one chamber to increase performance, reliability and accuracy. The full port design makes sure to reach the maximum air flow with reduced head losses, this is very important to avoid the risk of pipeline collapse and deformation should the sizing proved to be not totally accurate, as it is in most cases. The floats are in solid polypropylene and therefore not allow, under any circumstances, deformation, jamming and leakage typical of hollow floats. The water tight, even at low pressures, is obtained by means of a horizontal contact between the float and the o-ring housed in a large seat in stainless steel. Compared to spherical floats and loose pieces of rubber this is the most accurate solution for a long lasting product.

CSA design incorporates an anti-slam surge prevention mechanism to avoid water hammer and damages caused by it. This is achieved by means of two technologies available namely the AS or anti-shock, never in contact with water, and suitable for the installation near pumps and locations of the pipeline exposed to column separation. The second would the RFP , conceived to prevent rapid closures therefore unwanted pressure surges in case of rapid filling of pipeline and mains. In both cases the CSA automatic combination air valves will perform the required function controlling the closing in a smooth and soft mode, creating some sort of an air-bag effect for the entire system.
