Many beginning copywriters try to create an amazing sales letter for their information products and then drive traffic to it, creating a one-step sales process. The customers in this situation do no know anything about you and they are expected to make a purchase only from the information you have given in the sales letter. This is a really hard way to make money, and in the long run will not be very successful. You need a way to create dialogue with your customers. You need a way to build trust and show them that you do know what you are talking about. All of this is possible with a two-step process involving article writing.
Now, this two-step process works the best with lower price-point items. If you are selling a coaching program or a big ticket item, your sales process may take weeks of article and email marketing combined, building a long-term relationship. These articles are not advertisements, they are designed to educate while at the same time, build credibility for yourself. Use your copywriting skills to answer the question for the reader 97% of the way, but they will have to purchase your information product for the full answer. Create a sense of "what's next" and you will see not only your traffic increase, but your sales will go way up, just because you are now sending pre-qualified prospects to your site.
