Some people wonder if they have what it takes to write to a blog everyday in order to build a business. Some people look at copywriting as if it's some huge supernatural monster they have to conquer. Do you ask yourself any of these questions: Do I have the time? What will I say? Who the heck is going to listen to me? Will I be any good at it?
If you haven't asked yourself these questions, then this isn't for you. You probably already know all there is to know about copywriting. If you have asked yourself those questions at some point, you're in good company. It's okay to be nervous, but it's not okay to let fear motivate you and keep you from moving forward. So get off your tush and get to work. Be confident in yourself and your ability to learn and then apply what you learn.
Here are a few tips that can get you started thinking, brainstorming and most of all - writing. The content is out there. People need solutions to their various problems. You can start finding content by talking to people and finding out what they want. What are people talking about and discussing? Then give it to them.
The art of great copywriting is a definitely a skill - a skill that can be learned by those willing to dig deep into their imagination and muster as much creativity as possible and give valuable information at the same time. Does that sound simple enough? You might say that you're not that creative and that's okay - that leads us to the first point...
1) Write like you talk
Just be yourself. Let your personality shine through your writing. Use your figures of speech or slang. That makes you more real and people want to do business with real down-to-earth folks.
John Carlton, a legendary copywriter and author and marketing mentor is so natural; so real; shocking sometimes. He engages you with his personality. He writes like he is talking to his best friend.
There are other great copywriters to study as well. Reading other's blogs and sales copy can help you develop your skills. Read something everyday.
2) Inspire People
What inspires you? Share it. People are looking for inspiration. They need it. That is an industry in and of itself. People want to hear inspiring stories. Many times, it makes people want to take action and buy what you're selling. Why? Because it makes people feel better about themselves and you.
3) Q & A
This is another great way to write solid content. This is a very easy method. All you have to do is answer questions. People want solutions to their problems. You need to get inside their heads and find out what it is they want. Give them answers to their issues. Give them value.
Think how grateful people will be when you help them with their problem. Do you think they'll bookmark your site or at least come back for more? Heck, yeah!
If you're still not convinced, think of advice columns. They've been around forever and probably always will be. They've got advice columns for kids, teens, pets and various subjects.
They even have radio versions of that where some poor sap tells all her/his business and asks for help from the listening masses.
The great thing about this style for marketers is that it does not come off like an ad. You can give them good value and then refer them to a product or service.
You're now armed with three tips to get you started writing great copy. Be yourself, inspire people and help solve their questions with the Q &A format. Write everyday if you can. The more you do it, the more confident you'll become and the better you'll write.
I didn't always have passion. I had a crazy JOB and was miserable. I took control of my life. I stepped out of my comfort zone (or uncomfortable zone) and committed to become an Internet Marketing Master. I love working from home and learning and growing each day. And I enjoy sharing what I learn with others.
