Active@ UNDELETE is a powerful tool which allows you to undelete files and recover lost data from almost any kind of media. If you have used the software before, you will notice many new features and improvements in version eight, the latest release of the software. There is a new Welcome Screen which provides you with various data recovery wizards. These allow you undelete files in less time and with a significantly greater chance of success. There is a wizard which allows you to recover data that you have deleted from the Recycle Bin. Another wizard will let you to recover data from a formatted drive and more. With just a few clicks, the program will do the hard work for you. For more advanced users, there is also the File Recovery Expert wizard. This allows you to fine-tune certain settings and find any type of data lost, regardless of the format.

When you start the data recovery process, Active@ Undelete displays a dialog box on the screen for you. This shows you how much time the scan has left to go and it also shows you how many files it has found which can be recovered. If you want, you can stop the scan at any time and look through the results collected so far. You may also apply filters to the scan results which is useful if you are looking for a particular type of file such as a document or image for example.

Active@ UNDELETE also provides a completely new data recovery engine over that of its predecessors. The advanced recovery algorithms are some of the leading solutions in the industry. They also support FAT, FAT32 and NTFS file systems. Starting from version 8 Active@ UNDELETE supports exFAT, the HFS+ file system used on Macintosh computers and the EXT file systems used on Linux. Active@ UNDELETE is available in a Pro edition which allows you to recover data from a computer which is no longer able to boot up. Additionally, there is an Enterprise edition targeted to those who have complex RAID arrays. This edition will allow you to recover files on a RAID hard disk which is failing to start or mount. In many cases, even data stored on physically damaged disks can be salvaged.

Although Active@ Undelete is an ideal solution for novice users who have never worked with data recovery before, it also provides features for advanced users. There is a partition manager which allows you to recover a deleted or damaged partition, often restoring all data on that partition in the process. You can also create and format partitions but, unlike other partition managers, Active@ Undelete provides a roll-back option allowing you to revert to your previous partition settings at any time you want. Active@ Undelete even supports virtual hard disks and images used in the VMWare virtual PC software. Another advanced feature is the hex editor, allowing you to work with raw data should you need to.
