How to Get Out of the Me-Too Business and Start Making What You’re Worth

Congratulation, you have had your site up and running for quite some time, correct? You believed the hype that running an e-commerse business was all cream and honey.

However, things turned out to be a little bit different. First you had to learn how to build a web site. And not only that but to drive traffic to it in order to get sales. After asking on web master forums you even found out what domain is and how to register one. Not only that but also to buy a ssl and install it on your site.

Seeing the results of your labor was great for a number of reasons one of them being that you proved the naysayers wrong Pride, joy and satisfaction. It’s ok to admit it – you were eagerly expecting the day all these people who did not believe in you would be asking you to share with them how to make it big.

However, even though your site is online and getting a few visitors here and there you aren’t sure you will find success in this endeavor. You are now wondering how come you did not notice that there are so many sites selling exactly the same products as you do.

As a matter of fact there are 2 or 3 800 pound gorillas in your marketplace that suck all customers and sales and leave nothing for the small guys like you.

If you’re wondering how I know that the answer is pretty simple – personal experience.

When I started out I had my behind kicked so many times that I stopped taking count. I couldn’t sleep at night; I wasn’t happy and made the people around me miserable. However it does not have to be that way.

Fortunately, you can avoid this fate..

I stopped eating and lost a lot of weight. I was so skinny that my friends thought I was sick. I think though that things don’t have to be that way.

You can have a profitable online business no matter how many other sites have the same thing as you do. And in the article below I will show you how to do just that.

Despite the fact that you don’t believe it you can really run a ROI positive e commerce business. If you wonder how – just keep reading and pretty soon you will find out.

But first things first. All you want is sales, right? And a lot of them. Then you need visitors to your web site and a lot of them.

There is a simple reason for that – only 3 percent of visitors actually buy.

Of course, I’ll show you how to increase that percentage but the truth is that you’ll never be able to close one hundred percent of the visitors to your site.

The very first thing you’ll have to ask yourself is this – what do I need to do to drive traffic to my site.

There are million ways to do that, do not trust me – just type the query into Google and see for yourself how many results it will return. I’ve spent 6 years of my life mastering that and I am still in the beginning but in this article I won’t focus on that because I want to share with you something that’s more important.

What I want to share with you is much more important – how to outsell all your competitors who offer the same stuff sometimes at prices you can’t afford to sell at.

For the most impatient people among you this secret can be summarized in one sentence – add value in order to sell. Adding value is the only way I know to differentiate from your the pack.

But first let’s define what value first. You might disagree with me but to me value is adding something that consumers consider valuable. The “thing” doesn’t necessarily need to be tangible, keep in mind.

A while ago I got a call from a guy who owns an e commerce site that carries bowling balls, bowling bags and bowling shoes – the on line equivalent of the bowling pro shops in the bowling centers.

I tried my best to find a reason why I should buy from this guy’s website, but I couldn’t. It had the same stuff as all other bowling websites and the prices were not very competitive.

If this guy was to last in this business and not be killed by the big guys he urgently needed a way to set himself and his website apart from anyone elses’ site.

Want to know what trick we pulled in is? It’s very simple. We created about 50 or so product videos. Videos where the owner of the site was demonstrating the balls, bags and shoes and giving his opinion on them.

You may be asking yourself – where is the value in all that, because I can not see any, correct? The value was in the fact that the visitors to his site could see what the products looked like in reality unlike all the other web sites out there.

Secondly – visitors could see who they were buying from. You might disagree with me but my experience has taught me that whenever possible people buy from people. They do not want to buy from gigantic and faceless corporations.

They were able to establish a connection with the owner of LongLiveBowling.com and feel that he’s a genuine guy, someone who loves bowling.

Do you want to know how that worked out in the end- fabulously. The people who watched the videos loved them.

They felt great about buying from that particular website and were sending their friends to us as well. You have probably noticed that we gave them was something intangible, something they could not take home and put it on the wall.

However, you can provide something tangible if you want I bet you see examples of the latter daily. If you are a woman you know the drill – get a free something with every cosmetic purchase

Giving a towel or a rosin bag in this case would have been a great example of giving something tangible to the visitors of the site of this guy. We just decided against doing so.

You can do that too. To do that grab a pen and paper pad and put down all the things you can do to add value for your customers and make sure everyone who visits your site is aware of that.

If you want to see that yourself go to the bowling bags section of the website and after that check out the About Me page.
